Facebook today announced Portal, a device designed for communication. Vision FacebookThe goal is for Portal to become a device that connects family and friends through video.chat. Two versions have been announced, the first is a 10-inch version called Portal, the second is a 15-inch version called Portal+. Both devices can be used in both landscape and portrait orientations. Both devices include a form of artificial intelligence in the form of Alexa, a smart camera, and sound.

The smart camera takes care of focusing on your person all the time. So if you start moving around the room in different ways, the smart camera will still follow you. The smaller version will cost $199, the larger Portal+ then $349.
