Europostancand approved an amendment to the directive concerning audiovisual media services, 30% of the content will now have to come from the EU. The new measures are intended to increase the protection of minors from harmful content, limit advertising time and promote cultural diversity. MaxAt least 20% of advertising will be allowed between 6.00:18.00 and 18:00 and between 24:00 and XNUMX:XNUMX, this will apply especially to television broadcasters. The control of harmful content and the promotion of cultural diversity will then also affect such giants as Netflix, Facebook nebo YouTube.

The amendment was adopted by a vote ratio of 452 for, 132 against, and 65 members of parliament abstained from voting. It will still have to be approved by the Council of the EU. Member States will then have 21 months to implement into national legislation.
