New information suggests that Great Britain is starting work on its own satellite navigation system, which will be a future rival to the European Union's Galileo project. The reason for this is the potential loss of access to the Galileo project, which could be caused by Brexit. Britain is thus worried about national security and wants to provide its own navigation system for the country. All this can happen despite the initiative of the continuation of the project on the part of Britain.

It will support the government in the program to develop its own system minidefense chief. The new independent navigation system is to be developed by the United Kingdom Space Agency (UKSA) and the government will provide up to £92 million towards its development. Thus, a new player could appear between the usual GPS system and the upcoming Galileo, but it will certainly not be fully operational earlier than the aforementioned system of the European Union. It should have up to 2020 satellites by 30.

A competitive navigation system is supposed to represent certainty for the residents of Great Britain after Brexit.

The European Commission is gradually starting to exclude Great Britain and British companies from sensitive future matters, including the Galileo project. The project was launched in 2003, while it should be completed in 202. However, with the greatest probability, this border will move a little further. Leading specialists and analysts claim that building a competitive and fully functional navigation satellite system would cost Great Britain 3 billion pounds.

The European Union notes that Britain will continue to be able to use the open signal of the Galileo system, but the encrypted version that the satellite will have will be rejected for the British military. This amendment is supposed to be a bone of contention for the rivalry built on a competing satellite system. It is unacceptable for Britain to have its security forces removed from the project, so it is demanding a refund of up to £1 billion for the work it has done on the project. This amount of money could go a long way towards realizing an independent navigation system for the UK.
