For its purposes, they selected 500 engineering students to ensure respondents who are more tech savvy than the average person. In this way, they avoided a potential problem where the person being asked would not know what two-factor authentication means. They found that most students have no need to use technology and consider their passwords to be sufficiently long and secure.
Professor Camp sees two main problems with two-factor authentication. The first is its ignorance among the population, as according to a survey from last year, half of Americans do not know this type of security. The second problem, according to Camp, is sending the code via SMS, because the messages can be intercepted by hackers.
