It looks like the company Apple is considering using its iPhones as a way to identify users. This could be done with the help of a special system using RFID. Smartphone could thus be used as an alternative to a classic passport in the future.
The patent application, filed March 30 of this year with the US Patent Office and published this week, is titled "Importing documents into a secure element," and describes how the system could import confidential data from a specific source. According to the patent, the said confidential data can then be provided to an authority that identifies the owner of the device - this will serve as proof of identity.

The described electronic device features RFIC (Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit) technology or NFC and a secure element used to store data. Using RFID, the device obtains some of the relevant information from an identity document issued by a responsible authority - for example, a driver's license. Once the data is read, the device sends a request for authorization to the relevant authority. After obtaining authorization, the device stores the requested data in the secure element. The transfer should work both ways, i.e. the authority also sends a request to the device. The patent also mentions the growth of e-passports, which contain a chip on which all data about the owner, including name and date of birth, is stored.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. This technology is used, for example, by NFC chips.
Most of the patents that the company Apple describes hardware that does not yet exist. In this case, however, it is a computeronenty, which are already commonly used, namely in iPhonech. These are, for example, NFC technology, a secure device that stores data for Touch ID or Face ID, or authentication systems based on entering biometric data. Such a system would find its use not only in a corporate environment for verifying the identity of employeesancentering the workplace, but also at airports, for example, if the passport number is used. However, the exclusive replacement of classic passports would mean solving a number of legislative obstacles, so corporate use is more likely to be considered.
It's not even yet Apple Pay and he should already replace the documents🤦♂️🤷♂️
