Company Apple is expected to introduce a trio of brand new iPhones to the world this fall. The estimated date of the fall event keynote is mid-September. Among other things, a cheaper, 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display. However, its release is now under question – there have been speculations that the release of this version of the iPhone will be delayed. The reason is alleged problems with the production of its most important component.

The difficulties, which could theoretically cause a delay of several weeks, relate to the production of the upcoming phone's display. As if that wasn't enough, another possible cause of the delay emerged this week. Tou is the virus that hit the Taiwanese TSMC factory, which not only supplies the Apple company with components such as processors and chips. TSMC is the exclusive supplier of the A12 chip, which should power all of this year's iPhones and the new iPad Pro. The computer virus affected a number of the most important devices, therefore the operation of the factory was suspended and will slowly return to the original operation.

Bloomberg reports that the virus has shut down virtually the entire factory and the company has confirmed possible production delays. It did not specify which of TSMC's customers will be affected by the delay caused by the virus attack. According to TSMC, the suspension of operations is due to a virus that entered the network as a result of an error during installation. TSMC did not provide further details - it is likely that the virus began to spread during the careless installation of one of the new tools. The company Apple is a very lucrative customer for TSMC, accounting for 21% of the manufacturer's revenue. TSMC is forecasting a three percent decline in revenue and a 1 percent decline in gross margin for the third quarter of this year.
