Israel is the latest country to open an investigation into the Cupertino company over slowing iPhones caused by software and aging batteries. According to the country's consumer protection authority, Apple failed to adequately inform users about last year's software update, which caused performance slowdowns on some iPhonewith older batteries.

Apple is thus accused in another market of not disclosing all details about the software update iOS 10.2.1, which is behind the decrease in iPhone performance, the agency said Reuters.

Head of the Israeli branch Applu, who is Tony Friedman, has already been questioned as part of the investigation. The Israeli authority confirmed that it could impose huge fines on the Californian giant as part of the civil proceedings, however, it stated that the investigation is only at the beginning and so it is still relatively early to draw conclusions.

Such a drop in performance was measured by the founder of GeekBench:

Apple implemented in iOS 10.2.1 power management feature in January of last year to prevent iPhones with degraded batteries from shutting down on their own, but it wasn't until December that the truth came out. Apple tried to correct its mistake, so it offered battery replacements at discounted prices, for models iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus a iPhone SE.
