Apple found himself in court again, this time because of the heart rate sensor on Apple Watch, which allegedly infringes Omni MedSci's patented technology.

Omni MedSci claims that between 2014 and 2016 it worked with Applem, but howonec Apple ended the partnership discussion, and then used its patented technology. The company has filed a lawsuit against the apple company in East Texas, claiming that Apple willfully infringed the patents, and demands damages.

Apple introduced Apple Watch in 2015 and since its debut, cuckoos with the bitten apple logo have a built-in heart rate sensor. According to a recent study, they can Apple Watch detect a whole range of health problems such as atrial fibrillation, early signs of diabetes, hypertension and the like.

Omni MedSci is owned by Mohammed Islam, who has six companies under his wing with more than 150 patents. Again, this is a patent troll. Islam has expertise in optical and laser technology and appears to hold several patents related to these fields. His patent holding company Cheetah Omni has already sued many companies such as Fujitsu, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, Nokia and Siemens. Does he now have in battle with Applem sancHowever, we do not dare to predict success. Most patent troll lawsuits end in the defendant company's success, but this is of course not the rule.
