In 2008, a former graphic design student at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and an intern at Applu, Angela Guzman, was involved in creating the first 500 emoji for iPhoneThis year, she celebrates the tenth anniversary of her internship at the Californian giant, and on this occasion, she went back in time and remembered the first set of emojis. In doing so, she created an interesting retrospective, which she provided to the server Medium.
Guzman tried to design the emoji with as much detail as possible, as the then-CEO Steve Jobs carefully examined each smiley before it was approved for use in iOSGuzman mentioned that some emojis have interesting stories.
