Apple koneofficially issued macOS 10.12.4 update with the expected Night Shift mode. However on f.lux forum a comparison of the function from the Cupertino company and the function of f.lux has now appeared. It follows from the discussion on the forum that f.lux has a more modern solution. Both systems are based on the fact that they reduce the blue light emitted from the screen, but they differ in some ways.

The basic idea of both systems is to change the colors on the display. It adjusts the color temperature and suppresses blue light so that your eyes don't hurt in the evening. And at the same time, it's easier for your body to get into its natural circadian rhythm.
“Studies have shown that exposure to bright blue light in the evening will affect your circadian rhythms and make it difficult for you to fall asleep. Night Shift uses your computer's clock and geolocation to determine when sunset is in your location. It will then automatically set warmer display colors. It will return the colors to their original settings in the morning.” states Apple to your Night Shift mode.
However, the company's regime Apple it does not reduce the blue color enough, which is noticeable from the graph showing the color intensity.
Whereas the f.lux system reduces the level of blue color dramatically. From the forum it appears that the color itself nestIt helps to adjust the circadian system.
“Our circadian system doesn't really respond to small changes in color. It mostly reacts to the amount of light. The eyes can distinguish even minor differences in color shades very well, and that's a different system than the one that drives circadian rhythms." supplied by f.lux.

So clearly they had to contribute somethingchat, when their number of users dropped by a lot of percentage from day to day :) apple nightshift really at first sightoneChava is more blue, I think it's so that there isn't such a jump between the color of the key backlight and the color of the display, but I think it works great.. it's just right
I think it's totally cool too. It is very pleasant to watch in the evening :-)
It's great, for me it's important that the color deviation is miniand if it is linear, as in the case of Night Shift, I appreciate it, in the case of Flux, it would probably bother me quite a bit when creating graphic works if the colors were completely different in the evening than I used during the day and vice versa.
I would say that it works well for them. I almost fell asleep in front of the screen last night. :-D :-D :-D
