IKEA, the Swedish furniture store, has announced its affordable smart lighting. It's called Trådfri, which means "wireless" in Swedish. The range includes Trådfri LED bulbs, a wireless controller, a motion sensor, dimming lights and more. IKEA also introduced LED light panels that can be built into cabinets.

Availability date for Sweden is March 31st. The lights are expected to arrive in the UK first (April) and other countries should see these bulbs very soon as well. On website IKEA does not mention compatibility with existing platforms such as Apple HomeKitHowever, support for other platforms seems likely.

Can someone explain to me what is the point of controlling the lighting from the phone?
in that you can also break them :-)
Min inventory of disconnections = savings in costs for new disconnections
Rather, it is about control over Siri. You're getting close to home and you're asking Siri let him start opening the gate for you :-)
It's not just about turning it on and off. In HomeKit set a scene (profile) where you will have lights in the living room, blinds, etc.
You name the scene a movie. When you click on it or request it siri, your blinds will be closed, the light will be dimmed, and the lighting color will be adjusted to suit your needs.
Got it. HomeKit function?
And what kind of question is that? So I usually refrain from commenting, but when someone doesn't even read the article and writes nonsense, it makes me jump out of my chair. Are we really that digitally demented?
IKEA has everything very smart!!!! :-)
Uselessness for me..the solution from Philips (Hue) clearly wins for me for support Homefeeling connected to Siri and considerably more refined controls and possible updates to the system and the entire environment... but those who do not have iPhones and other devices from Apple I don't see a problem in buying this cheaper alternative :)
