Recently, the Unicode Consortium approved 72 new emojis that are included in the Unicode 9.0 package, which was officially released last year on June 21. But now the release of Unicode 10 has started knocking on our door, and with it a ton of new emojis that should see the light of day this fall along with the arrival of iOS 11.

I would be interested to know if there is a way to completely turn off the conversion from ASCII to emoticons... I have the "Emoji Keyboard" turned off, but for example in iMessage It keeps converting ":-)" to that disgusting color image for me.
