This morning we were surprised by the news that Apple bought a popular automation app Workflow. The good news for all users is that thanks to the acquisition, the application is now free (it originally cost over 80 CZK). The average user will probably not be impressed by Workflow after the first launch, but believe me, this is one of the best applications for iOSwhich exists.

I consider her myself along with Launcher for the absolute top among task automation applications in iOSThose of you who have ever worked in Automator on a Mac will feel right at home in Workflow, as it works on exactly the same principle – you compose certain actions that are to be performed one after the other. In effect, this means that while you click a single button, Workflow performs several actions in the background within a second and serves you the result.
Once you create a procedure in the app, you have three options for how you can control it. Either it will remain in the app or it will be accessible from widget(3D Touch on an app, notification center, or lock screen) and thenonec can be under the share button in almost any app. You can also create a shortcut on your home screen, but that will just take you to the app. Additionally, if you own Apple Watch, Workflow will be even more interesting for you - certainly shortcuts can also be added to the apple watch, from where they can be activated.
To create a process, just click on + in the top right and then switch to actions at the bottom, which you can drag into the workflow window. You have to complete the actions as the application progresses and it is often necessary to allow access to specific information (calendars, photos, etc.). It could be said that it is also a kind of fundamental basics of programming, because when creating procedures you can also use various conditions, repetitions or obtain an output based on which a certain action is performed.
Before you start creating the procedures yourself, I definitely recommend that you take a look at the Gallery (top right) first. Here you will find most of the most used and useful procedures already created. Sometimes it is necessary to modify them (translate texts into Czech and sometimes even change the units), but it will save you 90% of the work.
I myself use Workflow for more basic functions, but it often makes it easier for me to click unnecessarily in a certain application. Most often, a shortcut for playing a playlist in the car (I just click and the phone connected via Bluetooth to the car radio will immediately start playing my favorite playlist) and then a shortcut for quickly entering drunk water into the Health application. I use the others once a week up to a month.
I would welcome tips on shortcuts. As an inspiration.
Thanks.
