Apple yesterday introduced the new iPad, with which it enters 2017. We have seen a slight price reduction, the name "Air" and on the contrary, many questions and other uncertainties have arisen. What is the news from Applu is? How do the two models differ and are they actually similar in any way? Is the new model better than last year's? Let's compare them.

iPad Air The 2nd generation is gone and we are left with the iPad. Simply iPad. Following the example of laptops, Apple switches to two levels of product lines: classic (MacBook, iPad) and "professional" (MacBook Pro, iPad Pro). It can also be assumed that this step Apple basically killed MacBook Air, as there will be no more room for it in the offer (just like the last "season" is most likely waiting iPad Mini – both products received a light update before their eventual demise). But let's get back to the iPads. Immediately after the presentation, information began to appear on the web about the differences between the latest two models. And the changes are far from only positive...

But let's start with the bright side. The new iPad has a "new" A9 processor, which we can find in iPhonech 6s, 6s Plus and SE. It replaces the older 8X model, compared to which it is slightly faster (for a more detailed comparison, see e.g. here.) The memory options remained the same (32 and 128GB) and the price of the configurations saw a significant drop. However, that's probably where the list of positive features ends. iPad pro the year 2017 has grown a little. Compared to AirThe 2nd generation is wider (6,1mm x 7,5mm) and also heavier (444g x 478x). In terms of size and weight, it is essentially closer to the first generation Airu.

Another big change is a different type of display. The panel itself is probably the same, we'll have to wait for a more detailed analysis after we get a first look under the hood. What has changed, however, is the way the entire display part is made. From the iPad Air 2nd generation (through Pro models) displays were glued/laminated. i.e. the protective layer was glued on the panel as such. Previous iPads had an air cushion between the display and the protective panel. With the new iPad, the lamination is gone and Apple thus returning to an older and less costly solution. In addition, the new iPad also lacks anti-reflective display treatment (which is essentially related to the laminated display). Everything else seems to be the same. It is clear that all this information will be confirmed or refuted immediately after the first models get into the hands of users.
