Once you create a new Instagram account and start uploading new photos and videos, any user can search for your profile and see your posts. However, this can be prevented by making your profile private. This means that anyone will still be able to find you, but after opening your profile, they will only see your bio, profile photo and the number of posts, followers and follows.

In order to view your posts, the user will then have to request tracking, which you will have to personally confirm. Thanks to this, you will have an overview of who can view your photos and who wants to follow you.

How to in the Instagram app for iOS make your account private

  1. Launch the Instagram app on your device.
  2. In the bottom panel, click on your profile button in the lower right corner.
  3. There is now a cog-shaped Settings button in the upper right corner. Click on it.
  4. In the Account section, there is a switch called Private Account at the bottom. Activating it will make your profile private.

From now on, users who do not follow you will not be able to see your photos and videos that you add to the social network. To switch to a public profile, just go back to settings and switch the slider to the off position.
