Google has updated its music application with new options for choosing the quality of music played over wireless networks. It is also possible to choose the level of compression of the downloaded songs. Previously, users of this streaming service could only set the music quality when listening over a mobile connection. After the update, you can choose the quality even when listening via Wi-Fi or when listening offline.

The playback quality options in the settings are only listed as low, normal and high. So it is not entirely clear what bitrate is being used. Interestingly, Spotify offers a choice of 96kbps, 160kbps or 320kbps, Tidal offers 96kbps and 320kbps and so on.onec Apple Lossless (Hi-Fi) streams at 256kbps by default, but includes an 80kbps option for mobile connections.
