Article from PCexpress: “I don't get my phone fixed because it's expensive. I don't have time for it and it will never work properly anyway.' These are the most common excuses that keep more and more people from having a fully functional phone. However, most of these reasons are not based on truth. That's why we decided to write down and disprove the most common myths about mobile phone repair.

Myth No. 1: Repairs at an unauthorized service center will void your warranty

Most warranties and guaranteesancThe manufacturer's warranty when buying a new mobile phone only covers manufacturing problems and defects. It does not include a broken screen, damaged ports or spilled phone. None of these defects will be repaired under warranty. You will have to repair the phone at your own expense, either at an authorized or unauthorized service center.

It is not true that you will automatically lose the warranty by repairing in an unauthorized service. A condition for maintaining the warranty is that the damaged part must be replaced with an original part. Which is no problem for most brands.

Myth No. 2: The phone can only be repaired in an authorized service center

The truth is that the repair procedure is the same regardless of whether you go to an authorized or unauthorized repair shop. So what is the difference between them? Often only included in the price. An unauthorized service may offer you a spare part from another, cheaper manufacturer. In many cases, such parts are of the same quality as the original, only they are available at a significantly lower price, which is especially beneficial for older phones and phones after the warranty period. However, this does not mean that an unauthorized service will automatically insert a non-original part into your phone. Ask questions, get advice from an expert and design the best solution for you together.

Myth No. 3: Private data is hacked and misused in the service

Real professionals respect your privacy and protect your personal data. So if you don't entrust your phone to a trusted company without references, you don't have to worry about abuse. You run a much greater risk if you connect to an unsecured network in a coffee shop.

Myth No. 4: Damaged smartphoneone it will never be like new again

You might think so, but it's not. Today's cell phones have almost every part replaceable, and if a damaged part is replaced with a new one, it will work like new.

Myth #5: It takes weeks to repair a phone

Also a very common myth. Most common damage can be repaired by waiting or within a few hours. In modern services, such as PCexpress (SK) or Express repair (CZ), you hand in the phone, take care of your shopping or other obligations, and when you're done, you pick up the repaired phone.

Myth No. 6: Phone repair is too expensive

This myth probably dates back to the days when phones were more of a luxury than an everyday thing. But in this day and age, when weaker phones sell for basically a pittance, the price of a repair can't be as high as a new device. Of course, we don't claim that there aren't some financially more demanding repairs, but that depends on the degree of damage and the brand of the phone itself. However, this is still a fraction of the price of a new phone.

Myth No. 7: A cracked screen is just a beauty flaw

It certainly isn't. Even if it seems to you that the phone only has a broken top glass of the display and is otherwise fully functional, a long-term damaged display can make the repair of the phone significantly more expensive. A damaged display can lead to other problems, such as a malfunction of the backlight, the formation of dark spots, an unresponsive touch surface, and the like. Also, due to a damaged display, the phone's resistance to water and moisture will be significantly reduced.

Myth No. 8: A phone damaged by water cannot be repaired

Yes and no. It depends on the level of damage. If your phone "swam" in the river for a week, then probably no one will save it. But regular pouring or shorter immersion may not be a problem. Maybe just keep a cool head (we described how to proceed in the article How to save a drowned smartphoneone

Myth No. 9: Rice will save a drowned phone

No, rice won't help. We have already disproved this myth in the article Will rice save a soaked cell phone? Fact or fiction?
