Apple pledged to use energy from renewable sources for the operation of its buildings and data centers. For this reason, in 2015 the Cupertino company expanded its list of suppliers to include additional suppliers from around the world, including China. In its 2016 report, it said its program reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 13 tons.

Currently Apple extends this program to Japan, where Ibiden has become its clean energy supplier. However, finding space to build a solar farm in such a densely populated country is quite a challenge, but Ibiden came up with an innovative solution.

To meet its commitment, the clean energy supplier is investing in more than twenty new facilities that will produce energy from renewable sources. It even plans to build one of the largest state-of-the-art floating solar systems in the country.

Jackson, vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives at the company Apple, said clean energy is good for both business and the environment. “We are continuing our program to use only renewable energy to power our data centers and headquarters. We help our partners to switch to cleaner energy sources as well, and we want to be an example for other companies."

Apple globally, 93 percent of energy comes from renewable sources, with 23 countries using 100 percent clean energy.
