Apple along with 52 other major American corporations, supported a transgender student. Gavin Grimm found himself with his case all the way to the Supreme Court. He is fighting for the right to use public social facilities for the gender he identifies with.

Transgender people are increasingly striving for their rights. In 2015, Gavin Grimm, who is now represented by the nonprofit American Civil Liberties Union, sued a school in Virginia for not being able to use restrooms designated for the gender with which he identifies. The case went through several federal courts, including the US Court of Appeals.

In addition to the Cupertino company, other tech companies have also signed a legal analysis in support of the student, such as Airbnb, Amazon, eBay, IBM, LinkedIn, Intel, Microsoft, PayPal, SalesForce, Twitter, Yahoo and Yelp. Also on the list of signatories were big brands such as GAP, MAC Cosmetics, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurancand Warby Parker.

Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign, said the companies were making a clear statement by signing that they support transgender children and their families. “Everyone deserves to be treated with respect,” he said.anc"and succeed in an environment free of stigma and discrimination," he said Apple, which will strive to ensure that transgender students are treated the same as other students.

The tech giant has participated in events supporting the LGBT community in the past. Every year, employeesanci participates in the LGBT Pride Parade to support human equality and diversity across ethnicities and sexual orientations.

The Supreme Court plans to rule on the student's case later this month.
