Google's YouTube mobile app leverages the capabilities of the operating system iOS, which automatically launches when a user clicks on a link leading to a YouTube page. Unfortunately, this useful feature didn't always work as it should, so Google rushed out an update that caught most of the bugs.

If in the mobile version of the browser Safari or Chrome v iOS you click on a link leading to the YouTube page, and instead of automatically launching the application, the video opens in your browser and asks if you want to launch it in the application, update the YouTube application on your mobile to version 12.07.

"YouTube links now open in the app instead of the browser for a better viewing experience," Google said in a statement. If you're more comfortable watching the video in a browser window, simply tap "youtube.com>" in the top right corner of the app.

Google has already tested this feature with some users, so it may have been working for you for a while. In addition to this change, the YouTube mobile app for iOS removed confirmation when discarding an empty comment. The previous update fixed a rare issue where the app would not respond after opening. If you have iOS device iOS 7 and previously installed YouTube app, you can now reinstall it to the latest available version.

Other features that the latest version of YouTube offers include the ability to browse other videos in fullscreen mode and skip ten seconds forward and backward in a video by double-tapping the side of the player. Google announced this week that people watch billions of hours of content on YouTube every day. "If you sat down and watched billions of hours of YouTube, it would take you over 100 years," Google said.
