- In the Messages app, play an embedded video someone sent you.
- There is a speaker icon in the lower right corner of the video window. Click on it.
After clicking, the sound is immediately turned off and the icon is crossed out. If you want to play the sound again, just click the icon again. Thanks to this trick, you can watch the video quietly without having to turn down the volume on the whole system, which would also take longer.
