Our lives are affected by the invisible infrastructure that is all around us. It is made up of radiation from routers, satellites, radios, cell phones, cell towers, and many other things that emit or absorb some invisible radiation, mostly microwaves.
Dutch artist Richard Vijgen created a special application called The Architecture of Radio. The application can display radiation on the iPad screen that is invisible to the naked eye. Vijgen himself states: "We are completely surrounded by an invisible system of data cables, radio signals, access points, cell towers and satellites".
Vtip je však v tom, že aplikace, i když se na první pohled může zdát, že zkrátka dokáže zachytit přes kameru telefonu pro oko neviditelné záření, pochopitelně tímto způsobem nefunguje. Funguje na základě informací z různých zdrojů o datových a dalších signálech, které se vyskytují v dané lokalitě a na základě nich tyto záření dokáže vykreslit. Právě proto není aplikace dostupná v App Store a funguje jen v dané lokalitě, ve které se podařilo získat dostatek informací o zdrojích, které vyřazují nebo přijímají signály.
