The last time Speedo caught the world's attention was in 2008, when Michael Phelps won eight gold medals and set a number of world records in their LZR Racer swimsuit. The LZR Racer full-body swimsuit was talked about by the professional public at the time as something that helped this fighter to other records and medals, of which he already had eight at home from the previous Olympics.
Now, Speedo is once again making a statement, this time in the field of wearable electronics, where it has teamed up with Misfit. The novelty is called Speedo Shine and it can record information from the pool with such accuracy as no other sensor in the world. Speedo Shine is a device created specifically for measuring swimming and can measure the distance you swam in any swimming style, count calories, number of steps, sleep activity and other things that we are used to from regular trackers. However, the novelty can also recognize individual swimming styles and, according to them, evaluate the demand for burning calories and so on.
The Speedo Shine is waterproof to 50 meters and the battery lasts for six months, with the option to replace it with a standard watch battery, which costs a few dozen crowns. Synchronization with iPhonem is done via Bluetooth. Swimmers will also be pleased that the measurement takes place either when they have the bracelet on their wrist or when they clip it to their swimsuit. Instead of a display, the Speedo Shine has 12 LEDs that inform you about reaching your daily goal in terms of kilometers swum or calories burned.
The novelty therefore boasts not only top-notch accuracy, but also the fact that, in addition to measurements while swimming, it also offers all the standard functions of trackers sold today. It is therefore not intended only for swimmers who live more in the water than on land, but for everyone who wants to swim occasionally and keep their data under control. The Speedo Shine will be on sale from September 1 only at speedo.com, Misfit.com and v Apple Store in stores for $79,99.
What about the Moov now bracelet? You can even have two bracelets with this if you want for even more accurate swimming measurements. It also automatically recognizes swimming style and calculates distance and pools. And it is clearly designed for multiple sports. What do you think? It would be possible to compare them somehow only on paper, because both are just going on the market and I have pre-ordered the Moov now for a long time, so hopefully it will be better. Alternatively, thank you for the comparison and your opinion which is better :-)
