Dr. Dre has surprised several times this year. Well, the biggest surprise was that after 16 years of waiting, he released his third album. Why was it a surprise? Mainly because his newly released album Compton: A Soundtrack has very little in common with the originally planned album Detox and it seems that we will never see it again, because according to rapper's words he wasn't good enough. And so instead we saw an album on which we meet Eminem, but it is not the track I Need a Doctor. Anyway, after 16 years of waiting, Dre was able to build up so much hype around his third album that it immediately went to number one after its release.
It came out barely two weeks ago, already in the first weekend Apple recorded 25 million plays and over 500 purchases in the iTunes store Store. The album itself is getting mixed reactions from people - while some are not letting the new album pass, others are asking themselves if this was the best rap album in the world. So the reactions are varied, but even we in the editorial office were quite shocked that Dre decided to literally throw away 16 years of work. As he himself announced a few months ago, he decided to cancel the album definitively, so we only have available materials such as the tracklist and some of the prematurely released songs (note some even say that Dre moved the beats rapperom, with whom he collaborated on them and let them release the tracks under their name). On the other hand, we have to give Dre credit - he's been working on the album since 1999. It's 2015 and we all know how much the world has changed over the years. This also applies to music, where there are different trends now, and 50-year-old Andre Young, an entrepreneur and multi-billionaire, has different concerns and interests than 35-year-old Dr. Dre.
latest album, Compton: A Soundtrack, is the soundtrack to Straight Outta Compton, which opened in the US on Friday.
