What sets Beats 1 apart from other stations is that it broadcasts 24 hours a day and you can listen to it all over the world. However, it also has one common feature, namely that it is a radio. And so even when listening to it, you will encounter the fact that you will hear the same song several times, but nestit happens as often as traditional radio stations, where one song is repeated approximately eight times per hour. The bonus is that the station has no predetermined genre and simply plays what represents music in the world, and the presenters often share with us their favorite songs from their playlists. However, they are doing well Applu follow the idea of Beats 1 or is it starting to become a dozen radio?
This was looked at by analytics firm Quartz, who compiled all the songs that were played on the radio over the course of a month and found that the most popular genre on Beats 1 was hip-hop, followed by alternative music. A total of 1726 rap songs and 1506 alternative rock songs were played here from the beginning of July/July to the beginning of August/August. One could talk about the Top 2, because the third place had almost half as many replays. It was electronic music with 802 tracks. The blues did the least, it was played only 12 times, that is roughly once every two and a half days.
And of course, the company also looked at how individual performers were doing. There are thousands of them in the world, but only a few of them can be lucky even at the peak of popularity. This also applies to the Beats 1 station, where we could hear the most frequent tracks from the R&B singer who calls himself The Weeknd. We could already hear his song Can't Feel My Face on WWDC and it was one of his two most played songs. The second is the composition The Hills. In total, his tracks have been played 180 times, while the tracks of his two closest peers, Drake and Disclosure, have been played 163 and 144 times respectively. Jamie xx, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Major Lazer are among the most popular artists.
During that period, a total of 12 songs were played, but they were actually only 445 unique songs, which means that we heard each song almost 3 times in a month. It is definitely a better statistic than what other radio stations would bring, where the same tracklist is repeated for half a year and several times a day. However, we could hear the most popular songs on the station more often, up to 371 of the 4 songs in the Top 18, which you can see below, were played more than 20 times, that is, almost twice a day. As you can see, some songs were played more times than expected.

well, I play b1 quite often and it plays for 2-3 hours in the background, but I haven't heard my favorite REM or RHCH peppers there yet... it seems to me more like hip-hop radio... not that I don't like hip-hop, but my taste is that there are a lot of such completely uninteresting songs..
Oh yeah. It's also Radio Los Santos from GTA:SA :D
