Runtastic is one of the most popular fitness solutions for iPhone users and is more or less the strongest competitor for Nike+. But Nike can expect a new competitor from now on, as from now on Runtastic has a new owner, who is none other than Adidas. The popular German brand bought the development studio for 220 million dollars because it sees great potential in its applications. Namely, similar to Nike, Adidas will now allow athletes to connect their sportswear with an extremely popular service, which Runtastic clearly fulfills. Its applications will complement existing solutions from Adidas, miCoach and Adidas Go, which includes built-in Spotify.
However, Adidas wants to connect Runtastic with its balls as well, so it is possible that at the next World Cup we will see interesting information directly from the balls and tapping on Apple Watch will alert you that Messi has just kicked the ball. But otherwise, the Runtastic apps will be connected to a lot of other products that Adidas already makes, whether it's clothing, sneakers or wearables. Maybe we'll see more apps that users can download right away and start using right away alongside other apps that Runtasic has made. It currently has 20 and the developers boast of 140 million downloads and a user base of 70 million registered users. So, the more appOkay, so more Runtastic?
