Already two weeks ago, we were able to read an interesting report according to which Nokia was to communicate with German car manufacturers and the possible purchase of the popular HERE maps. Two weeks have passed and the one-time Finnish legend has confirmed that she has indeed sold the HERE division Maps to Audi, BMW and Daimler, who together paid 2,8 billion for it euro. Automobilky majú pritom záujem používať mapy od Nokie ako prirodzenú súčasť svojich áut, pričom mapy a GPS navigácia budú dostupné aj bez nutnosti používať dodatočný hardvér.

Nokia Here maps are otherwise considered to be very high-quality solutions, which is exactly the reason why the German elite "started" after them, which is also known for its precision and quality. In addition, the Audi-BMW-Daimler consortium apparently plans to offer Here maps to other car companies, exactly as it was said earlier, and they want to make them a multi-standard, which will probably have a bad impact on the sales of GPS systems from brands such as TomTom or Garmin. However, from an investor's point of view, it is quite strange that Nokia decided to sell its maps, especially since it was a profitable division, and instead intends to focus on other matters that are not very related to providing services to ordinary consumers. Nokia plans to continue to focus on development ultra-fast 5G network and also introduced a new 360-degree camera designed for creating content for VR devices. However, it is clear that Nokia will return to its old ways, after all, the ban on entering the mobile market ends next year, and it is said that we will see its phones on the market again from next year.
