First look at the watch
- Made in China, how unexpected
- The white color is elegant
- I know that the belt is white variaIt's more for a woman's hand, but it fits me perfectly.
- Single button on the side
- The metal frame only adds to the eleganceanci
- NFC label on the tape, so the one with iPhoneI probably won't use the 5s.
- I expected the display to be smaller, it seems just right to me
Package contents
The watch will come in a smaller white box decorated only with the words Watch and Alcatel. onetouch along with a slightly larger-than-life picture of the watch. Right after you try to open it, the watch itself peeks out at you, which is stuck in a kind of enclosure made of soft plastic. Right next to it is a vertically placed red block that hides warranty cards and other necessary literature. There is also a manual and there is also a place for a USB charging cable, which you will obviously not use, because the watch is charged via the built-in USB port.oneso you can plug them directly into the USB socket on your computer.
Design
The appearance of the watch will definitely excite you. Although I like the watch type Apple Watch or Pebble Time, which don't have a round dial, but when I first saw the Alcatel Onetouch Watch, so I couldn't say no. A white one came to our editorial office varianta with a shorter strap, but as I already mentioned, the strap was just that long for me. The strap is white and I would like to point out that the black varianta has a slight advantage, because I can imagine that for white variaThe rubber strap will turn yellow or gray over time. The strap is therefore made of anti-allergenic rubber material. Inside is hidden NFC label and at the end there is a USB cable hidden under the caponewhich, so the watch is charged classically via USB. The strap freely flows into the body of the watch, which is made of several materials. Let's start with the sides of the watch, which are made of stainless steel. On the right side of the watch there is a single button that is used either to turn the watch on or to turn the display off and on, but you won't do that much, because the watch has a built-in function that when you raise your hand, as if you want to look at the watch, the display lights up by itself. So, just like with Apple Watch.
A dial with a display is set into this steel body. Around the display is a dial with lines indicating the hours. At the bottom of the display is an empty space that is not part of the display and functions as a “back” button in the system. The display is an LCD with a diameter of 1,22″, so it is a slightly smaller display than on smaller varianty Apple WatchI'll just add that even though the Alcatel display Onetouch has endured a wave of criticism, so I found it to be trouble-free and readable even in direct sunlight. The bottom of the watch is made of plastic and you can notice the heart rate sensor. This part is held by several screws, which may suggest that the strap could be separated, but since the strap goes into the bottom of the watch and important components are stored in itoneNo, I'm ruling out this possibility.
The size of the watch seemed directly proportional to the length of the strap and I think that a larger and thicker watch would just draw unnecessary attention to itself, the thickness Onetouch Watch is 10,5 mm. The watch boasts an IP67 certificate, which means that the manufacturer guarantees water resistance and dust resistance. I myself have only been in the shower with the watch and I must admit that it did nothing to the watch, if you are interested in more information about water resistance, then read article by our editor-in-chief, who subjected the watch to a larger water resistance test.
Features and OS
The basic thing is to determine what you expect from a smartwatch. If you want at least to show the time, you probably won't encounter a problem. Before testing, I expected the watch to become an extended arm of the phone. And that's exactly the right attitude. First of all, you have to realize that the watch actually, except for the fitness functions, which I'll get to later, doesn't do anything on its own initiative. The basic thing is your phone and the Alcatel Move mobile application, through which you can reset the watch, edit the watch face, watch faces, set what the watch should notify you of, or a classic function such as an alarm clock. In the aforementioned application, you can also view the timeline, i.e. what you've ever done, and you can check the daily summary. This is actually a summary of all the fitness functions that the watch collects. The watch supports notifications for incoming calls, missed calls, SMS, emails, notifications from Facebookat, from Messengerua from Instagram. There's not much more yet, I just hope this list grows. You can access notifications by swiping up from the bottom on the main screen with the watch face. I'll also add that you can't react to notifications in any way and you have to view them on your phone, otherwise they'll just hang there.
The watch itself runs on a simple and clear operating system that Alcatel has prepared especially for this watch. You can choose between three watch faces: classic, classic with extended lines for numbers and digital. The watch allows you to check the weather, measure your heart rate, and the watch can also be used as a classic stopwatch and a running stopwatch, where the only difference from the classic stopwatch is the ability to measure laps. I really don't understand why Alcatel had to prepare a special application for this function. Unfortunately, the minute minder is missing. OneThe touch Watch can also display an electronic compass, a camera shutter, which, like the music control via the phone, works a little clumsily. To explain, you won't use the camera shutter much anyway, but if you really want to, the classic Camera application won't launch on the phone, but a window in the Alcatel Move application will launch. As for music control, know that it only works with the basic music player on your phone. I'll add that this music controller doesn't work on Spotify.
Then there are options like turn off Bluetooth, turn off vibration, change the brightness intensity or change the theme from black to white and vice versa. I almost forgot about the phone finder function, where when you tap the icon on the watch, your phone vibrates and plays a melody. The watch OS has no app store. In short, the watch doesn't support third-party apps, which turned out to be a big minus, because for example, the watch didn't even want to work with the Health app on my iPhone. As for the operating system as a whole, I have no complaints here in this regard. It worked great for me, it didn't show any signs of jamming or anything like that. Everything was as fast as you expect from a watch for less than 4 CZK.
Fitness function
I already mentioned some of the fitness features in the course of writing. Now let's summarize. Alcatel Onetouch Watch can count your steps, measure distance traveled, measure calories burned, count active minutes per day, monitor sleep and measure heart rate. These are the basics that every good fitness bracelet can do. Even the additional literature says that these measured data should not be taken as if from a doctor. A smart watch cannot be your personal doctor. For example, I let the watch run on my wrist several times during the day by tapping and turning it. And if you move your hand a little faster, one or more steps will jump on the watch here and there. Of course, this is not a problem or a flaw, this is the classic behavior of the watch. In short, it can be seen here that smart watches are still just watches and fitness functions are not at the forefront. On the contrary, I would like to highlight the heart rate measurement. I compared the results with both a home meter and a professional one, and the results were not that different.
záver
What to say in conclusion? Alcatel watch Onetouch Watch is a great option for fans wearables who want to get started with smartwatches. Watches nestIt costs so much, it is almost the lowest price for smart watches, at least in our country. For how much it costs, it offers quite a lot, but it is not overwhelming. The menu is simple and it took me about 2 hours to master all the capabilities of the watch. The brand is also a positive, because you are assured of some quality, Alcatel is definitely a proven brand. You may not be so impressed with the capabilities of the watch, which will get boring after a while, but the design will still entertain you, believe me. I would not like to forget such an important thing as endurance. The watch lasted me 4 days and I played with it a lot for the first 2 days and tried to tire it out. If all smart watches had at least this kind of endurance, I would not be angry at all. The watch is at a good price, offers basic capabilities and is really nice and very well and qualitatively processed. A great ticket to the world of smart watches.

4 days on the battery, that's a different story. WITH Apple Watch I have a problem getting to 1 day if I take a longer bike ride :(
well, yes, but then again, it's not a full-fledged smartwatch if you can't upload apps to it. But the durability is really great.
Otherwise with that stamina Apple Watch – it fluctuates a lot, and I haven't really discovered the cause yet. One day I come home from work and I have 60% left, the next day I only have 20. At the same time, the regimen is not significantly different. The number of notifications from the work email is quite large (over 100 per day), but even that does not change much between individual days.
maybe i missed it - how do notifications work? Does the watch indicate, for example, an incoming call including caller ID? or, for example, a notification of an upcoming meeting? or if an email/sms arrives, will it display at least some information (sender? subject of the email? what account is the email linked to...)?
Thank you
Z.
to the praised design - I haven't seen them in person, but I don't like them in the photos (the looks match the low price, I'd say). But I understand it's subjective.
I like the look of the Huawei watch – but they are not yet on sale, and they probably won't communicate with iPhonem.
Zdeněk, in the review I mentioned what the watch informs you about, these are incoming and missed calls, SMS messages, emails, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. The watch will always show you who liked what and where, or who is calling or writing to you, but you can't do anything with notifications on the watch. You have to "consume" everything on the phone's display. Unfortunately, the watch can't handle notifications from the calendar.
Hello, I am also a short-time owner of this watch and quite satisfied. I just need advice on whether notifications for new emails from the iPhone 5s work. Even though I have this checked in the application, it still doesn't work. Facebook, calls, text messages, messenger – everything works, email just doesn't.
Thanks for any advice
