Apple today confirmed, that it will update its web plug-in to block all versions of Adobe Flash Player up to the latest version available, which is version 17.0.0.169. On older systems, all versions of Flash Player prior to version 13.0.0.281 will be blocked. Apple will still allow you to run the older version of Flash Player, but you have to do it through the Internet plug-in, where you enable the older version of Flash Player to run in the browser's management, which will then run in insecure website mode.
Apple didn't block older versions of Flash Player just on a whim or because of some Adobe boycott, but because it turned out that older versions suffered from serious security issues. Apple thus trying to protect users above all, and Adobe, which has already released a new version of Flash Player, can only welcome this step, because it will force everyone to switch to the new version. If you do not see what is shown in the image below in System Preferences, then select Check Now and download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
Flash has long been in Safari I don't use it, unless I happen to need it, I'll run it for a while Chrome, otherwise I wish Flash a quick death….
