iTunes Store was a complete phenomenon years ago that had basically no competition and if you wanted to buy digital music, iTunes was the Store the best place. Music on iTunes Store even people who don't buy any products from Applu. However, things are different now and there are many alternative stores where you can buy music. However, this year's iTunes financial results are even more impressive. Store signed so-called on-demand services that allow you to play any music, at any time.
Proput music in iTunes Store has fallen by 14% this year, which is already a rather interesting change. The Wall Street Journal drew attention to the fact that in the case of AppThis is a really big drop, because last year digital music sales fell by only 2,1%, but in the case of Applu by a full 14%. However, in the case of a global view of the digital music market, this decline was offset by the growth of subscriptions from on-demand services, and thus overall revenue from digital music grew during this year and last year.
If we add to the sales of digital music the sales of classic CDs and other music media such as Blu-ray Pure Audio and similar, the market has stabilized in most countries over the past two years. The exception is Japan, which is experiencing a huge decline in both physical and digital music sales. The decline in digital music sales and the increase in revenue from streaming on-demand services seem to have been the main motivation for Appleto buy Beats, which also includes the Beats division Music led by the eponymous Beats streaming service Music
ProWhy would anyone buy music when for €8 a month you can have all the music you can think of on Spotify? Personally, I see the future in apps like Spotify, I personally have already deleted all other music from my iPhone and only use that.
raywen: for example, I buy it, FUP is FUP
Jaromír Miko> I don't have a problem with FUP with Spotify. When I'm on wifi, I mark what I want to listen to.chat offline and spotifi will download it. And it won't eat up mobile data :-)
It would be interesting to compare it with the possible growth or decline of the iTunes Match service. I can say for myself that I bought most of my music on a US account when iTunes was still available in our country. Store hasn't been there yet. In addition, I have "matched" albums from classic CDs that I have from last year and that's basically enough for me. I'm more into it now audiobooks. So iTunes Match gives me a sufficient supply. As for new releases, I don't care much about them anymore, except for Taylor Swift (her new album was released today!) don't appeal to me and nowadays, for example, Spotify is enough. But the fact is, I'm more of an Oldies fan. Just my opinion.
Since there's almost no Klezmer on Spotify, I have to buy on iTunes anyway / Google Play. Plus, I prefer to be completely independent of mobile data or WLAN when it comes to music after synchronization.

Jan Becher: I feel exactly the same. Since I have iTunes Match, I occasionally buy a hit song and a few favorites, otherwise nothing at all.
Zabak: exactly, just mark everything as Offline mode and you don't have to deal with FUP. It's also great for a reason I don't know about in Slovakia – metro ( :)))), there's no signal there and Spotify keeps playing happily :)
I've also been using Spotify offline since the first day it launched... I have my entire Spotify collection stored on my phone and I can't complain... Dealing with mp3s on my computer is a thing of the past for me that I don't want to go back to.
