One of the many group functions that the competition has is the Group Play service. In practice, this is an interface thanks to which several users can connect their smartphones via an Ad Hoc WiFi connection and, as a group, they can then stream music to their devices and, most recently, they can even record videos as a group, almost as we know it from TV shows. Perhaps it was this function that became the topic for the trio of students from the USA who were lucky enough to participate WWDC 2013 and developed what is probably the first group music app for iPhone s iOS 7 or later.

A trio of students mention that their new application uses Multi-Peer Connectivity, a feature that Apple stated last year, but unlike the majority, it was not so intensively publicized. The technology works on the principle that one iPhone serves as the main music player and other phones iPhone, which are located near him and have the Audibly application installed, will turn into wireless speakers, making it possible. It works on the principle that one device communicates with other devices located near the user. Of course, the devices don't have to be in close proximity to the main iPhone and can be moved some distance away, making it possible to play music in multiple parts of the house rather than just one room.

The developers mention that the idea of creating such an application was born at last year's WWDC and within the first week they managed to create the first working prototype of the application. However, according to them, the development of the application took longer than they originally expected, since for full functionality they had to implement several key APIs in the application that the system uses iOS and of course it was necessary to gain experience in the field of music streaming in order for the final application to be truly fully functional. This also included the inclusion of WiFi streaming, as the developers discovered during development that the speed of Bluetooth is still too low to allow smooth streaming of music on multiple devices at the same time. However, if you have iPhone 5 or other device with Lightning konewhich and iOS 7, then the Audibly app will work without any problems.
