Today it is exactly 10 years since the moment when Steve Jobs decided to take the stage and introduce a brand new model of professional desktop Mac, the PowerMac G5. A famous computer that even today people can mistake for Mac Pro, was released on June 24 / June 2003 and offered its users very powerful hardware that made working with film and photography very fast. The computer itself at the time featured IBM's PowerPC G5 processor, which was available in several different variants variantoch.
Alone Apple referred to this computer as not only "Ultra High-End Mac", but also called it the fastest personal computer in the world. The PowerMac G5 was the first 64-bit computer since Applu, which initially supported 4GB of RAM, up to 16GB of RAM in the final version. The computer was compatible with more graphics cards and allowed its users to change this hardware if necessary. In its time, it offered a processor with a frequency of 2GHz and a novelty in the form of a USB 2.0 interface.
In terms of design, this Mac was the company's first ever computer Apple, which had an aluminum body. Its appearance was very similar to the newer successor, which we can recognize as Mac Pro. The appearance of the device has changed since then minialmost – until 2013. Apple this year, just two weeks before the anniversary, he decided to introduce a completely new model of the computer Mac Pro, which offers both minia minimalistic design and, on the one hand, sufficiently powerful hardware with the possibility of replacing the built-in RAM memory. The PowerMac G5 was a record-breaker in several ways – not just because it was the first computer Applu with 64-bit architecture, but it was also the first modern computer Applu, which weighed 17,8 kilograms.
Despite the relatively large weight and tendency AppIn order not to allow users to modify the hardware, the inside of the computer accommodated one 5,25-inch drive, a pair of 3,5-inch hard drives, 8 DIMM slots for RAM memory, and also a pair of PCI-X ports. One of the last versions of the PowerMac G5 that Apple introduced, was a version with a 2,5GHz dual-core PowerPC processor and water cooling. Happy PowerMac G5!
