Most of our readers know AOL primarily for its VLC application, which is undoubtedly the most widely used video player on OS X in the world. Now, AOL has decided to take advantage of the market gap created by the demise of Google Reader and introduced its first beta version of its own RSS reader with the simple name AOL Reader. It offers miniminimalistic appearance that will surely appeal to most users iOS and OS X, simple layout of all elements and in the future also interconnection iOS and OS X apps. AOL is trying to make the transition from Google Reader or any other RSS aggregator as easy as possible.
All you need is an OPML file, which you can use directly in AOL Reader or alternatively via Google, Twitter or FaceBook account. In the graphical interface, you have several options for viewing your favorite RSS feeds, from simple previews of an article or headline to displaying full articles.
