When Apple introduced a new operating system iOS 7 containing several filters for digital photography, many analysts assumed that it would deal a fairly major blow to Instagram. The company Facebook, which held a press conference today, revealed a new option for Instagram, which it has owned since last April. FaceBookAs many expected, Instagram will now support not only photos, but also short videos with a length of maxat least 15 seconds, making it a huge competitor to the popular social network Vine.

Instagram is adding a new Capture button that will allow users to use the camera to record up to fifteen seconds of footage, twice the length of competitor Vine. Like Vine, users can also create a collage from the video andchat simply different shots. Instagram will offer simple editing tools that will help improve clips and especially crop them. However, what is most important is 13 new filters that are designed specifically for video recording. Instagram will also offer its own stabilization and try to capture videos in the best possible quality. Videos will contain a cover photo and then the video itself will start, but unlike Vime, the video will not run in a loop, but will only play once. Instagram is currently actively used by more than 130 million users who share more than 16 billion photos.
