KoneI finally got around to writing another report. I'm just having breakfast; day 3 begins. Keynote was really great. The atmosphere, it really can't be described, you have to experience it. Video is always nice, but it can't be compared to actually being there live. As for the things that have been imagined, the developers are mainly discussing the new design iOSu. That's the thing that concerns us the most. We mostly agreed that it's a move in the right direction, except for the appearance of those icons on home screen – they look quite 'childish'. But it offers a great opportunity to be among the first and do something really advanced with it, which fits nicely with the look and function of the whole system.
Apple Design Awards
This is an event where Apple it rewards developers who have created apps with great design or that stand out from the crowd in some way and are interesting. I'm not sure if it's also not under NDA this year, but what I can add is that they also announced 3 of the students who are here because they won the Student Scholarship. Their "about me" apps were really good, I was a little envious of them :P (but of course I wished them that, it's great when a person is recognized for an excellent job, and their apps definitely were).
Day two
As for the actual process WWDC, most of the main sessions take place in the main room on the 3rd floor called 'Presidium'. It's good to get there early, otherwise you end up in the "overflow" room, watching only the broadcast on the screen. In the morning I was downloading the beta via firewire during breakfast iOS 7 and Xcode 5, and due to the long update I ended up in this overflow room. Fortunately, I was able to switch to the main room for the next session. As for breakfast – it's really good. Lots of different buns, muffins. I can't complain.
Well, what about iOS 7 (which was the topic of most of the sessions I attended yesterday) – it's a really big change, but it will be exciting to see what the developers come up with and I have a lot of ideas on how to use the new features (like blur or UI Dynamics) appropriately and elegantly. As for the sessions themselves, I can't write much about them, it's 'confidential'. Otherwise, overall – it's quite demanding and tiring, I usually arrive at the hotel in the evening and I'm not able to bring myself to write anything. But I'll try again tomorrow morning. I have to go, the first session today starts in 17 minutes, so I don't end up in that overflow room again.
Thanks for the short info, I quietly envy the atmosphere...
