Because Apple yesterday introduced a new Mac Pro, which is the very first Apple computer with support for 4K resolution, there were immediately speculations that the company would show us a new Thunderbolt display with Retina display. Speculation gained momentum even after the background of OS X Mavericks appeared on the Internet with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels. This resolution is four times higher than that of current Thunderbolt displays and therefore it is possible that Apple actually preparing a model with Retina display.
The fact that Apple he drew attention to this fact during the performance Mac Pro, creates the assumption that we will only see high resolution this year on the new Thunderbolt displays and not on the iMac. Because the production of displays Retina in any resolution, it is initially expensive and its production price only decreases over time, it is obvious that Apple decides to keep the price of the current iMacs at the same level until the time when production allows to keep the price of the product with minilittle change.
The panels found in current Thunderbolt displays are manufactured by LG, which is one of two companies involved in the production Retina displays for 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro. Because there are reports from time to time that Apple is said to be in talks with Sharp regarding high-resolution displays, possibly as one of the manufacturers of the new Thunderbolt Retina the displays will be Sharp. Today, Sharp already produces 32-inch 4K displays with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and at the same time presented an 85-inch display with a resolution of 8K, i.e. 7680 x 4320 pixels.
