The guys from iFixit.com have already managed to disassemble not only the latest MacBook Air, but also brand new AirPort Extreme. New router from the company Apple it offers the latest Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac, which should ensure really high transfer speeds. In addition, the novelty offers six antennas instead of three, and thanks to its vertical design, it should offer increased Wi-Fi strength and range. Apple first introduced AirPort Extreme with the same design as the Time Capsule. The only difference is that so far what AirThe Extreme port only serves as a Router, in the case of Time Capsule we also have classic storage space on the network, which we can use for the service Time Machine.
“When we removed the top cover, we found 3,5″ of empty space. While AirThe Port Extreme is not equipped with any storage, we took a standard 3,5″ SATA hard drive and it fit perfectly in it. There is only one catch, the Airport Extreme has noonewhich to connect this disk. On the motherboard we can find places where they would normally lead toonewhich, but they are not there. It is now withoutancto use AirPort Extreme with its own disk instead of Time Capsule," an iFixit.com spokesperson said
On the other hand, this problem may not bother us that much, the price for AirThe Extreme is priced at $199 in the US, and the Time Capsule with a 2TB hard drive costs just $100 more, which is a pretty interesting price for a 2TB drive, and it's not exorbitant. iFixit rates each product with its own repairability score and Airport Extreme received 8 out of 10 possible points. Standard Torx screws, the relative absence of glue and other features make it AirPort Extreme is a relatively easy-to-repair device.

No one has mentioned it yet, but the design is better than the time capsule flood, where the HDD or power supply often dropped due to poor ventilation. This looks much better.
It would still be interesting if it were possible to insert 2x 2,5" HDD and make it RAID 1. That would be absolutely correct.
