In the world of audio technology, we should not forget about other world-famous brands, and if you really belong to the music listeners, the term TDK will certainly tell you a lot. A well-known Japanese company has decided to launch a new wireless boombox speaker with Bluetooth and FM radio support, which will surely find its fans. Boombox A73 is here to offer a quality combination of radio and wireless speaker. Today we will take a look at how this device is controlled, what the sound quality is like, and what our overall impression is.
Design
Let's start with the design. The design of the speaker tries to be relatively simple, but still retains its main features. The boombox surprises us with its holder and a pair of large ones drivestraight on the front, as well as a pair of smaller speakers in the upper part. At the very top of the Boombox we find the main control panel, which consists of two rotating wheels and an invisible display. The display itself is hidden in the body of the product so precisely that it can only be seen when you turn on the device. In this case, you will definitely appreciate the presence of a set of instruction manuals, thanks to which you will learn to operate the Boombox in a relatively short time. You turn on the boombox by pressing the left wheel, which then regulates the output volume. The second wheel, located on the right, is used to change modes and volume of bass and treble. To the right of the body is a monochrome display, which is invisible until you turn on the device.
On the back of the Boombox we find a subwoofer and a series of ports, among which, in addition to the standard USB port, we also find a connection for a charging adapter or a 3,5 mm audio jack, which can be used for headphones. If we take into account the fact that the weight of this boombox exceeds 4 kilograms and at the same time it has three high-quality speakers, the possibility of connecting headphones remains incomprehensible to me. In addition to the possibility of controlling the speaker via the built-in control panel, TDK decided to include an additional smaller remote control with the speaker, which exceeds the dimensions of the latest iPod nano model. Of course, the included battery is also included, which needs to be inserted into this controller if the user is interested in using it. Practically all the functions that the user will need during use can be controlled through the boombox itself.
Koneactivity
In addition to the standard and expected option of listening to music via Bluetooth, users are offered the option of listening to the radio. In this case, users have the option to move between radio stations using the right wheel. In this case, the feeling of control is pleasant, but in the first hours, users may encounter some fear or uncertainty. Like several other speakers tailored for the iPod, iPhone and iPad, this speaker can also be connected to the device via Bluetooth 2.1 technology. So, if you have considered equipping your home with a WiFi speaker, it is recommended that you take a look at the JBL speaker Wireless Speaker or other alternative. One of the things that will definitely surprise the user are the dimensions. The TDK A73 has dimensions of 432 x 292 x 102 millimeters. Thanks to this, it weighs only 4 kilograms, which makes it a very portable speaker.
Sound
However, what interests us about the wireless boombox from TDK is the sound quality. The sound quality in this case is, in my opinion, at a very high level, since during listening, no noise was heard from the songs, except for what is already in the songs themselves. In terms of volume, the quality of the music is at a high level only for a certain moment. In case you decide to play the bass music very loud, you can hear a loss of bass and an emphasis on the treble. Of course, no one is asking you, especially your neighbors, to play the Boombox A73 on maximal volume. However, you can still play with the sound. If you need to adjust the resulting sound according to your needs, you have a unique opportunity to adjust the bass and treble according to your needs directly on the boombox, thereby losing the equalizer on iPhone its meaning. The user can set their own treble and bass in the range from -5 to +5. After some time, I came to the conclusion that the bass at the +3 level is the most ideal, thanks to which it remained on the product for a long time. Of course, these are just my personal feelings, so the result may differ for individual users. In the test, mainly bass songs were listened to, which in koneas a result, it left very pleasant feelings. As for the quality of the speakers, they are at a very high level, but as I said, only up to a certain level. What I don't recommend, however, is listening to quieter pop songs. Unless you adjust the speaker and reduce the bass level to an appropriate level, the bass emphasis will still be heard in the songs.
Summary
Let's take a look at our resume. The Japanese company TDK has brought a new wireless speaker, radio and boombox in one. The company paid attention to the design of the product and tried to help its customers, as evidenced by the presence of instruction manuals in several languages. What surprises the user at the beginning of use are the dimensions. The A73 Boombox is quite small and very ideal for portability if users are interested in that. The owner will certainly be pleased with the ability to modify the bass and treble, as well as the ability to disconnect the Bluetooth device and start an ordinary radio. The speaker thus has multiple uses. The resulting sound quality is at a very high level and this is especially true for bass songs and electronic music. I think that the only factor that can influence the purchase decision today is the price. It is set at €349 in Slovakia and CZK 8 in the Czech Republic.
