On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the creation of the popular game Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar Games decided to celebrate an important anniversary by releasing a version for mobile platforms iOS and Android. Since it was originally developed for PlayStation 2 and later also for PC, the high requirements of this game do not allow it to be installed on older devices. Specifically, the models are supported iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1 and iPad 2.
For fans of GTA titles, the game is intimately familiar. For those who are still with her nestretli, it is a large city that is quite lively and busy. The campaign itself takes you into the underworld of Liberty City, where you, as a criminal, complete various missions for which you get experience, points and money. You will have the merciless world of crime at your fingertips, every means of transport you see in the city you simply pick up and drive. If you are not interested in completing various tasks, you can simply walk around and get to know the city environment. The game does not force you to do anything, and this is one of the main reasons why it was one of the first to define the so-called open world genre, where everything is allowed.
GTA 3 has App Store listed the following properties:
- Visually, the graphics, characters and car models are improved
- HD resolution
- Optimization for touch devices
- Long hours of gaming
Everything that Rockstar Games promises is nice. More important, however, is how the game actually looks, how much it will resemble the original version, and whether it's worth sacrificing €3,99 for. I won't be able to judge the progress of individual missions, since it was only released tonight. Well, what I am most curious about is the graphic side of the game. Just for information, I will remind you that the testing took place on iPhone 4.
I was surprised at the very beginning, because the game checks the RAM and ROM memory before starting. It's hard to tell if it's just a graphic element or if it really fulfills its function. The splash screen refers to the 10th anniversary, the rest is identical to the PC version.
The basic menu of the game is adapted to touch gestures. START GAME moves us to the game launch menu and in OPTIONS we can adjust a few settings. Specifically, it is control, sound volume, display brightness and language.
Upon launch, you are greeted with the very first mission, which will be familiar to fans of this title, as it comes from the original version of the game. Controls while walking and after getting into the vehicle are shown in the pictures.
As for the graphics, it is at a very high level. Judge for yourself from the attached pictures and video. Even on iPhone 4, with a large number of cars, the image was choppy. Maybe it's a bug that will be fixed with updates.
Summary
Anyway, I can only recommend GTA 3. Simply, every time it starts, it entertains you with something different, and so you are waiting for somethingonehours of gaming. In conclusion, I have to admit that Rockstar Games couldn't have celebrated the 10th anniversary of this great game better, and gave a guide to other developers, how a bestseller can rise from oblivion and bring the team financie for the development of a new game.
You can download Grand Theft Auto 3 for €3,99 from App Store here.
The fact that it doesn't support older devices is stupid, it works fine on the 3GS... but the graphics are a little worse (that is, if these screens in the article are original from testing).
Thank you for the information, as I was based on officially supported devices in App Store I didn't know at the time of writing the review that it could be started on iPhone 3GS :-)
Yes, I made the screenshots on iPhone 4 :-)
I also play the game on the 3GS, so I was slightly surprised when, for example, on Galaxy S2 this legend doesn't work without some hacks (apparently the Russians took care of it). But I would like to note that "RAM OK - ROM OK" is just a video that was already in the PS2 version. Oh, and he forgot to write down how the revolutionary Autosave works (it saves the player's position and state exactly at the place where he turned off the game, so the next time he turns on the game, we will reappear in Infernus in the middle of traffic on the south of Staunton Island)
Otherwise, the review is good, the game gets 93/100 from me (hand-to-hand combat behaves terribly)
Thanks to Jaromír for the additional information :-) as I already noted in the review, I focused more on the graphic side and how the game can impress :-)
Played on iPad2
The graphics... it's hell.. if I take the performance a few years ago a PC and now you, a tablet.. massacre...
The game is expensive for me.. during the shootout, they shot me in the hand and my ipad fell to the ground and doesn't respond to anything... so we'll see..
Otherwise, it's great.. the game seems better on the ipad, but I'm probably spoiled by the large display...
It doesn't sound like a full-fledged review to me.
I accept the opinion... :-) but it would be pointless to focus on each mission in detail or other parts of the game, the main thing I stated is that the game is really worth the money and let everyone make their own opinion ;-)
Well, it needs a lot of updating. Although it's great on iP/iPad, probably TOP in its genre, but there are a lot of mistakes in it, just in 5 minutes of playing since I bought the game :)
