Reports that appeared on the Japanese blog Macotakara suggest that Apple plans for AirPlay add Bluetooth 4.0 support. The company reportedly made the announcement at the MFi Technology Summit 2011 in Shenzhen. It also confirmed that it will release a new certification of chips that would enable such a connection to the next generation of iZariadení.

AirPlay is a technology that allows users to stream content from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to compatible devices over Wi-Fi, such as Apple TV. Adding alternative support for Bluetooth 4.0 would result in much longer streaming times as it has significantly lower power consumption than Wi-Fi. It is assumed that in the future this step could lead to a rapid increase in market share AirPlay technology.

It currently includes Bluetooth version 4.0 iPhone4S, which is currently the only smartphone in the world with this technology. They are next Mac Mini a MacBook Air, introduced to the market this year.

We'll see if it works out in the end. Applu will succeed. If so, it would bring not only the already mentioned lower energy requirements for data transmission, but also backward compatibility with a possible even larger portfolio of devices from different manufacturers.
