Do you like to run, ride a bike and generally spend your free time actively and don't just sit in front of the TV and computer all the time? Do you want to monitor your activity? So you have two options, Nike + or Run Keeper. You can read the review on Nike+ after more than 800Km here. I will review the Run Keeper, with which I have already experienced almost 200 KM on the bike, only recreational riding
What will we need?
To use we only need iPhone with GPS module and of course purchased app Run Keeper from App Store, no sensor like Nike+. There is also a free, stripped-down version of Run Keeper available on App StoreNow to the actual App. When you first turn it on, Run Keeper will prompt you to create a runkeeper account, be sure to register, you'll find out why later. The next time you start it, you'll go straight to the main tabs. There are 4 tabs to choose from (Start, Training, Activities and Settings).
Start
In the first “line” we find Input Type – The choice is GPS (Run Keeper records the distance traveled (run) in Google maps, the speed is determined by the GPS sensor) or Manual Entry (If you exercise in a gym where GPS would not be relevant, you enter the values manually, select the method you are exercising with, the activity and enter the values)
The type of “row” is called Activity Type – here you simply select what you will do with it now. app You have several options to choose from when running Run Keeper. variant from running to cycling to swimming or check other.
When GPS mode is on, there is also a Playlist field to choose from - which I personally like a lot, you can play your favorite music or the one that excites you. maximal performance.
The penultimate "line" bearing the name Training - here we find basically three training options, but we can create our own.
The last box, which certainly caught everyone's attention first, is the large green Start Activity - tap the green button to start measuring your sports performance.

Training
A simple tab, here you create new types of training, which you can then edit over time or delete completely. The created workouts are also displayed on the first tab in the Training field. There is nothing more to add here…

Activities
The third tab displays your completed sports activities, which you can view over time. For example, you can see where you drove/ran (only if you used GPS mode) in Google maps, you will also see how many calories you burned, how long you exercised, what your average speed was in a certain section, total kilometers, total average speed and as the icing on the cake you can send your entire sports performance to the runkeeper server, which is why you registered when you first used it, after logging in on your laptop or PC you can browse all your sports performances, share them on facebook, twitter and share different routes with your friends.
Settings
I don't know if it's necessary to write what you imagine under this word... So maybe in short you will find here a place where you can enter your password and email to access the runkeeper server, you can also set how often Run Keeper will report the current status, volume, etc. will display as primary (you can choose between speeds and paces), the units in which Run Keeper will store data (kilometers/miles) and with the last option you can determine whether Run Keeper will also send data with the places where you rode/ran.
Now it's time for some conclusion. Run Keeper is a little worse than Nike+ but you don't need any special sensors, bracelets, shoes... but its positives don't end there - with Run Keeper you can do many activities, from running to swimming. That's why I prefer to use app Run Keeper than Nike+, which is really only for runners. It depends on you whether you choose Nike+ (Nike+ GPS) or prefer Run Keeper. For me, Run Keeper wins. I like that it is not only for runners, but we, lovers of cycling and other sports, have the opportunity to record our sports activities and have an overview of how much we have done, just iPhone Throw it in your pocket and get started!
You can use Run Keeper PRO for iPhone download for 7,99 Euro v Apple iTunes App Store here.
You can get Run Keeper free for iPhone download for free in Apple iTunes App Store here.

Consent is a handy app. for athletes and fully functional
Thanks for the tip. I would welcome information on how they are divided into paid vs. free application.
I use the FREE one and it's quite enough for me.
the main difference is that you can't use a TRAINER in the free game /or rather some kind of notification via headphones whether you should speed up or slow down to reach a goal/
otherwise it works the same. you also have your profile on the website, you can look at the graph of where you ran (map) and at what current speed, at what elevation...
PS to the review: I'm quite interested in how the trainer actually works in practice... should I buy it for that reason. does it give some commands like "GOGOGOGOGO" or what?
there are also many types of activities (including riding a wheelchair) but that is just redundant and probably only serves those who want to show off how much they have ridden... otherwise, of course, it would be useful for updating
No problem, I tried RunKeeper in the Light or Free version, just unpaid. But… it doesn't have the simplicity that Nike + GPS has. As a training program – with everything that RKP can do, I personally have – in my opinion – a much more comprehensive and better MySportTraining for iPhone, whose only disadvantage was a slightly longer GPS fixation. Otherwise, it does the same thing, and can also be used for fitness and collecting health information.
I admit that for me it's because I'm VidaOne I had purchased Diet and Fitness 3 as a desktop application back when I was using Windows mobile, but I don't have an app for it yet IPhone not convinced that it would be better... Plus, it's a desktop and iphone The MST application can synchronize via Wifi and can – desktop – also read data from a sports tester – I have a Polar, but maybe Garmin can do it too. As a sports training diary, in my opinion, it has no competition. For now, the desktop application is only for Windows , but the developers wrote to me in response to my question that they are preparing a native client for MacOS X by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2011. If they could manage to download data via the IR port from the Polar watch to the application, it would be great…
I want to add to runkeeper that it works without problems abroad, even if you have data turned off abroad. I'm currently using it in London, after finishing and saving the route, just connect to wifi and the route will be displayed beautifully on the map. For nike+, I used it last year and it was not accurate, especially when you run in snow or on dry land, they removed this error with an application in iTunes. I guess so.
I wonder how those calories feel? Does it evaluate the route (length/distance/time)? But I didn't find the weight/height/age setting anywhere...
