Since I've been using the iPad, I've tried many apps to read RSS feeds and have been looking for the right one for a long time. Now, after months of use, I can say that "Reeder" is the one that fully suits me and exactly what I want from an application of this type. Even though I tried other apps, Reeder was the one I always came back to. Among the very popular applications are those that can create a newspaper or magazine from your RSS reports, which is really nice for the effect, but if you are interested in really serious reading, this concept is not very clear and practical.
So let's take a closer look at the main advantages and functions of the Reeder application. Nowadays, Google Reader support is a matter of course, without which such an application would be destined for a very quick demise. What is no longer so obvious is the synchronization of the Google Reader account - read and unread messages. But Reeder can handle this very well.
After launch, you have all RSS feeds clearly arranged on the start screen, similar to photos in the Photos application. Previews into folders also work in a similar way, i.e. using multi-touch gestures. On the left side of the bar there are icons with which we can switch between displaying all, all unread and favorite RSS messages. There is also an icon for synchronizing/updating unread with a Google account. Individual administrations are sorted in descending order according to the time of receipt. The display of a specific administration always depends on the specific source. Some are displayed completely, including an image or video that can be played without problems, others only as a short preview of the article. By clicking on the heading of the RSS feed, we switch to the built-in web browser, where we can see the article in the same way as in Safari. An excellent function is the possibility to continue working with the administration, either to share it on social networks or to save it for future use.
Sharing options:
- Note (Google note)
- Delicious
- pin board
- Instapaper
- ReadItLater
- Safari
- Mail Link
- Mail Article
- Mobilldo
Moving to the next/previous administration is possible using the bar on the left or by moving and holding at the end of the administration (similar to refesh in some iOS applications). If we are in the RSS list, we can mark the report as unread by swiping it to the right and add it to favorites by swiping it to the left.
Although the application is not perfect and there is always something to improve, such as the sometimes occurring problem when scrolling when it does not work dynamically or problems with the application crashing, which is rather an exception. For the price of €3,99, you still get a fully functional and graphically rich RSS reader for your iPad. Reeder is also available for yours iPhone, iPod Touch for €2,39. The developer also plans to release an application for MAC OS X.
