Socialite Social services are the dominant product of the Internet these days, and probably every one of us uses one. Each service has its own web interface, which may not suit everyone, and therefore there are programs that are supposed to transfer social services directly to our Mac. And that's why when I got my first Mac I used Socialite (then it was still called Eventbox) was my first purchased application.

The main reason why I decided on Socialite and what is its indisputable advantage even today compared to the competition is the "all in one". So support Facebooku, Twitter, Google reader as well as Flickr, Digg and RSS services in one place. The application uses a standard Mac OS X interface and even an average user will have no problems with its operation. By using it, you will get a completely different perspective on social services and you will love using it every day.

Facebook

All registered services are displayed in the left part of the program. At the bottom there is space for writing and sending your messages. Authenticating your Facebook the account takes place in the application itself and there is no need to set up the link with FB anywhere else on the website. FB statuses with the option of chatting with friends are supported. Also, if you or your friend uploads a new photo to FB, you won't lose any like on the web when your "board" is flooded with "farmers" with their ducks and you will have every new photo saved in the application. In the current version 1.1 (1189) FB "links" and "pages”. You can send your statuses on FB, but direct upload of photos is not possible. Only using the twitpic/yfrog service and then send a link to the photo on FB.

Twitter

Linking the program with Twitter is also seamless and you can tweet your experience with your new application within minutes. :) Tweets are sorted chronologically from the most recent with the already read messages marked. Mentions, Messages, Favorites and Retweets are divided into separate directories. You can respond to each tweet with one click, either via reply, retweet or DM.

You can flag Tweets or add them to Favorites. Links from tweets are opened in a predefined web browser, except for photos from twitpic/yfrog, etc., which Socialite can display in its window. It is also possible to search for users or any other terms specified by you, or to follow tweet lists that you have subscribed to. Image uploading is standard for twitpic/yfrog services. We can also use services such as "Shorten url" and "Shrink" using keyboard shortcuts.

google reader

Probably the best solution for subscribing to RSS messages is offered by Google, which is why many developers implement it in their programs. Socialite is no exception, and I have to say that in the new version, the authors have pushed Google reader support quite a bit further. Marking of read messages and the option to send an RSS message to twitter is complemented by a preview of the given message in the lower window.

Flickr and Digg

These services are not supported to the same extent as mentioned earlier and the developers could work on them more. In particular, I had a long-term problem with Flicker, that it required authorization every time I started Socialite. I hope the authors have fixed it in the new version.

Maybe you don't like all-in-one apps one” and for each service you prefer to use a single-purpose application, but if you like things in order, you like to work in the MAC OS X system and you are not afraid of new things, then definitely try this great initiative by Realmacsoftware, which is definitely worth noting. The price of €15,86 is not high and the authors are constantly working on improving it. You will not regret it. ;)
